Now in 3, they've tried to integrate in a more social setting. To me this integration subtracts value from the plot and the new mechanics of usage makes it harder to learn effective controls.
But now Diablo 3: Eternal Collection is on the Nintendo Switch, the hybrid home console and handheld portable system, and my dreams have come true. No, it isn't a 'retina' display (it's 1080p), but it's larger than the 15' Apple display, and it's also a touchscreen display should you wish to use it that way. It has an nVidia 980M with 4 GB VRAM vs. The Retina's 750M with only 2 GB VRAM (hardly enough for its display's native resolution with modern games). There's also a dedicated gigabit ethernet port, as well as both an M.2 SSD connector and a 2.5' HD bay (you can configure it with up to 1 TB, but I suspect most gamers would rather put a good Samsung 850 EVO or Pro SSD there instead). Dell's laptop also wins in the RAM department in terms of repairability since they use SO-DIMM slots, not soldered RAM.
I think flux was just ironic. With that double the dough comment. But still, macs are macs are macs dude. And while i like the implementation of more than HD displays – with their horrible ppi we have now – we are talking about a laptop with a retina display. So, i totally agree that it makes sense to _finally_ introduce the finer grained ppi displays to the pc world but i would have started with specialized graphics displays, then went into mainstream desktop marked AND THEN went into the mobile market.
I will eventually get a display with this resolution, but not until a good amount of computer content (e.g. Websites, etc.) is optimised for it and not until the GPUs are able to handle it a bit better.

I built a Hackintosh because none of Apple's hardware uses a desktop GPU, and at the time I built my system none used a high end CPU either. 
I've got a machine more powerful than a mid-tier Mac Pro for less than half the cost. No amount of 'factoring in software' is going to fix that on Apple's side.
