That has to be stated. I went into the UEFI BIOS and removed the Serial and Parallel ports. After all OS X and Mac in general left these behind years ago. I've never had to do this before but just figured I'd try anything reasonable. I made sure I'd disabled VT-d although I'm pretty certain I couldn't previously boot if it was enabled. I changed the Windows 8 option in the BIOS to 'Other OS'.

I’ve actually run into this myself and am debating writing an article about it. It’s relatively simple to fix but obviously getting it automated across the network is the best way to go about it. You need to delete two registry keys. Seems they don’t get removed like they are supposed to when you activate office 2016. They are under HK_LocalMachine Software Microsoft Office 16.0 Common OEM and HK_LocalMachine Software WO6432Node Microsoft Office 16.0 Common OEM. Delete that whole OEM key under both places and that window will go away.

Really strange, but I just restored/migrated a MBA Time Capsule image onto a new rMBP I just purchased. Just about everything worked great, but I couldn't start Word/Excel/Powerpoint, they would all crash because some system libraries weren't migrated over for some reason. Outlook ran fine. I fully expected to enter the activation key again, since I've had to do it before when migrating and when installing a larger SSD in my MBA. I ran the Office update utility and updated to the latest Office 2011 version, and miraculously the programs started working again.
